The Sound Of Music

The Sound From Wind is hands down the most innovative if not frivolous bicycle accessory to date. What you get are a pair of flutes that attach to either sides of the handle bar. As you ride you bike, air rushes thru chambers producing sounds similar to an ocarina. You manipulate those sounds by pressing keys on both flutes and if you want a fuller, richer sound - ride faster!

This is brilliant for two reasons. One, I’ve always loved the sound of a flute or ocarina. Two, I’ve always wanted to move with my own soundtrack. This somewhat brings me closer to my dreams of living out my musical fantasies. And while I’m at it, might as well add beads to the spokes, neon blinkers front and rear, and a bell to complete the fully pimped out look. Designer: Joseph Kim

Button Down Tunes

Plenty of designers have attempted to fuse fashion with gadgets. Most have been unsuccessful with often designs that were either complicated, cumbersome or just plain ugly.

Here is an item that is simplicity at its best.

The “Wire Button” by Jaehyung Hong untangles your headphone cables for your listening pleasure and looks subtle enough to avoid being branded a gadget geek. Designer: Jaehyung Hong

An Egg-celent Speaker

For some reason egg shaped objects induce an autonomic “awwww” response in my brain. Yea it’s cute but this Egg is more than meets the eye. ‘Crack’ the shell and two pieces become your satellite speakers while the base acts as a subwoofer.

The base also provides a dock for your MP3 player. It recharges via induction and when portability is a must - comes with a cool neoprene jacket. Do want!

Barry Adamson, 'Spend a Little Time'

Being a Bad Seed has rarely been so good. Like some nasty Leonard Cohen alter ego, the veteran bard plays blues-folk as something dark and gruff on "Back to the Cat."

The trade of melancholy for something more bitter and less ambiguous is, after all, what rock is all about.

Lightspeed Champion, 'Everyone I Know Is Listening To Crunk'

"My best friends are all listening to crunk" has to be among the best recent articulations of indie-folk despair. What could make a Saddle Creeker more apt to throw in the towel?

Dev Hynes shouldn't give up just yet: He's letting Team Omaha escort him straight to Oberst-dom.

Galactic, 'I Got It (What You Need) ft. Lyrics Born': Free MP3 of the Day

Which is the better reason to listen to Galactic--the impossibly groovy funk-jazz jams, or the A-list MCs rhyming along to them? The combination is almost unfairly good, but we'll keep quiet.

With artists from Juvenile to Mr. Lif on board, it's a utopian redefinition of "instrumental hip-hop."

Music Vortex - Water Speaker

Bronze prize winner of the Chinese design competition Soundbox held by speaker manufacturer 3Nod, designer Eric Zheng created the Music Vortex. A speaker system that produces vehement vibration of water via resonance.

It works by having a built-in metronome which enlarges music rhythm to stable vibration and producing pretty ripples through the vibrating perch in the middle. Volume is adjusted by turning the 3nod switch located in the middle as well.
